The art of War, League of Legends!

Good morning everyone and hello from Montreal to all!
Today, our aim is to offer you a few pointers and hints about carrying in low elo!
Everyone loves carrying but even the most experienced players can find themselves having a hard time when picking some champions in the lower elo brackets. There are multiple factors to take in consideration when you pick your champion.

1- It’s the thousand blades of Aegon’s enemies – Baelish Peter

If you are smurfing, the first thing you must know is that your team will not alway follow up with you or even be able to farm properly at all. Keeping that in mind, you must avoid any support champions that offer pure utility but no damage/cc or that rely on early ganks.
When you execute a combo, league no room for hesitation, that slows down your reaction and diminishes your mechanics. Always remember, you are going to win this trade, and as soon as you finished trading… YOU BACK AWAY.

  • Avoid picking: Soraka, Leona, Braum, or any champion of the sort as they are not as effective independently as they truly shine in synergy with the team.
  • Pick: Tryndamere, Master Yi, Annie, or any champion that can auto-attack very fast (and scale end game yet has presence early game) or that can burst you before you press your QSS (Cough Syndra, Leblanc*)

2- “Now the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought. ” – Sun Tsu

So lay plays before the game begin, do not be distracted before the game begin. Are you invading his red and stealing? Or smiting his blue that you warded? Will you try to reach level 2 before the enemy or will you play passively and let the wave push towards yours for the early gank? All these are strategies that must be constantly running through your mind.
League of legends is a game of war. And war is won by outthinking your opponent before cutting him. Therefore, think before you strike and when you strike be sure of yourself.

3- It is the rule in war, if our forces are ten to the enemy’s one, to surround him; if five to one, to attack him; if twice as numerous, to divide our army into two.If equally matched, we can offer battle; if slightly inferior in numbers, we can avoid the enemy; if quite unequal in every way, we can flee from him. Sun Tsu

Sun Tsu already summarized simply but eloquently but I will translate this in League terminology. The minimap is the single important tool to tell you where to move to. The minimap is what informs you of ganks, ally aid, objective control, vision of more than 1 screen-size. A general must always watch his mini map. Hence, a general that does not uses his minimap is a poor general. The one who uses it to estimate his forces against that of the enemy and calculate the distance will be granted victory.

4- Tribunal

This is your single greatest enemy along with your own team. It is the reality of things that the Tribunal system is based on automated and popular methodology instead of moral and arbitrary ones for the “justice system”. That being said, any attempts made justify, educate, explain, reply or defend one’s self will inevitably result in actions taken against both parties. If must be, block chat every game and use pings.

This will allow you to focus on the game more and will teach you to  communicate with foreign players.

May victory be with you! Let me think how you felt about the post and leave any constructive criticism you want. Riot is remaking Galio, let me know if you would want a guide and commentary on that!
